Tubular vs. Clincher – Triathlon Bikes, Road Bikes and Cyclocross

http://ow.ly/1srAI — Triathlon Training Series

Ever wonder what the differences between a tubular and clincher bicycle tire was? Ever heard the guys and gals on training rides or at road races, cyclocross events and triathlons talk about the pros and cons? Still confused?

See Ian Murray, host of “Triathlon Training Series” and USAT 2007 Developmental Coach of the Year, as he explains both types of tires, the advantages and disadvantages and makes his recommendations. He also talks about the glue and “sew ups”.

At the end of the day the choice between tubular and clincher is solely up to you. Depending on the types of races you do: mountain bike racing, XTERRA, triathlons, Ironman distance races, etc

‘Tubular vs. Clincher’ is an excerpt from ‘Cycling for Triathletes’, Disc 3 in the “Triathlon Training Series” Volume 1.

Getting started on running…?

I’m 13 in 7th grade and cycling’s my main sport but I want to start getting into running and maybe later start doing some triathlons. Do you guys have any advice for getting started in running? like breathing techniques and stuff like taht?

You’ll probably take right to running since you’ve been cycling. Cycling can greatly improve your running. Just keep in mind that running takes away from your cycling by about 5%.

Running is a lot harder on your body than cycling is. You may not be able to go all out running like you might with cycling. Although it really depends on your overall fitness.

Breathing between cycling and running imo its about the same. Just keep it even and as ‘comfortable and normal’ as you can keep it.

For triathlon training, which of the following watches would you recommend, and what are the pros/cons of each

Garmin Forerunner 305
Polar S625X
Suunto T3

Please don’t consider price in your evaluation.

Thanks!

Amazon.com has the most reviewed products of any other site. Go there and do some homework. I would personnaly get the polar, I have used there products for years and like’em.
