I disagree with the …
I disagree with the head being in extension (out of the water) during these drills. You can see on the freestyle swim back the athlete’s head is in extension causing the hips to drop.
Additionally, it is well understood for many years that elite swimmers “anchor” their hand and the body moves over this point. So, again I would disagree with your premise that the common knowledge is not this.
