If I am training for a triathlon, working out 6 days a week, how many calories?

should I consume if I work out 6x / week at 40min. to over an hour each session, including some light weight training? Also, is it bad to starve myself while I am on this training regimen? I want to lost 10lbs as well, but I figure if I’m working out this much and not increasing my caloric intake, that will happen anyhow? Before this, I worked out sporadically, sometimes 3 times a week, sometimes every two weeks. Thanks.

If you don’t eat enough, your body will think you’re starving, and any food you do eat will be mostly converted to fat while your muscles are burnt away.

If you eat 500-1000cals less per day than you need to stay alive AND do all that work, you’ll lose 1-2lbs a week and meet your goal easily.

As for figuring out how many calories you’re burning – I use this website to help me out with that sort of thing:
