I’m a beginner triathlete and want to know, what a good 100m swim time is for a 38 yr old male in good shape?
Add commentsI’m not a professional swimmer and am self-taught. I swim 1 mile each morning and average 2 minutes per 100m. I just don’t know if this is considered respectable or pathetic. I need to know if I have to start picking up the pace to be considered "decent" at my first triathlon in April. Thanks!
Im a swim coach and swimmer and 2 mins is a good average for most middle age swimmers

thats ok but keep trainnign right now my time for a distace-pace 100m (assuming your not sprtining casue for triathon) i would be roughly 1:20 ish per 100 as a pace set for endurance. so 2:00 is just a start, now try to get 1:55 and keep going DOWN from there

This respectable if your are doing your best and not so good if you do not put any effort to do that.
I Brazilian 39 yr old male and I compete in triathlon (Age -Group) for two years my average in the pool is 1:22/100 and in the competition between 21 and 23 min per 1,5km. I usually came out of the water with the top ten so I think is a reasonable time if you could do 1:45 in the pool.
I hope the answer coul help you and enjoy the ride!!!!
PS.: Pathetic is stay on the couch!!
