Hi, I need to know what I need besides a bike (I have a trek 1.5 wsd)
and any tips for a beginner on transitions, training, etc.. thank you
Keep your eyes open while doing the event, try to see what the more experienced participants do. Your first event will be for learning and finding out how it should be done. Ask questions, the reason why triathlon has become popular is the friendly welcoming nature of the sport. The people you meet during the event are your best source for information.

I agree with the other guy. I work at a swim club, and we have a triathlete Masters program. We have some iron man/women, and a few USA triathletes. They got me to want to ride a road bike.
They are willing to answer any question I have, and they ask me how my training is going.
I can really only speak about the cycling and the swimming, and not in combination. I don’t do triathlons.
I can tell you they train in some way most every day. They swim 3 days a week. Some of them cycle directly after the swim. I would think you would put it all together, (run swim bike)for one training day of the week.
again most all these guys/girls are serious triathletes.

pcae yourself, dont surge and focus on your strengths, you energy is better spent there. have you shoes already on your bike so you can put you feet in WHILE riding this saves time. have plenty of water during the last few ks of the cycling to prepare for the running. what you don’t have time to dirnk pour over yourself. in the swimmign if you get bashed around a bit, fight back, the further off the front you are the less people to attack you.
Enjoy yourself!
