MightyMan Montauk – Olympic | Half Iron Distance Triathlons

http://eventpowerli.com
Rated a “Must do triathlon” by Triathlete magazine! Montauk is a quaint fishing and surfing town on the eastern most tip of Long Island. The town is known for its natural beauty and sports enthusiastic visitors.

Montauk is one of the birthplaces of triathlons. The sport is growing and athletes want to challenge themselves with longer events. There are few metro area triathlons of this distance. In addition to providing a venue for the athletes this event will showcase Montauk at a time when the weather is still nice but the summer crowds are not as heavy.

This is a great family weekend to spend on the east end with a beginner triathlete Sprint Race on Saturday.

SWIM – 1.2 Miles
Out and back swim in Fort Pond.
Fresh water with temperature in the mid to upper 60s.

BIKE – 56 Miles (2 laps)
Two laps on a 28-mile loop with rolling hills and beautiful ocean and bay views.
2200 total feet of elevation gain.

The Olympic distance race was added in 2011.
SWIM – 0.93 Miles (1.5 K)
Clockwise triangle swim in Fort Pond. Fresh water with temperature in the mid to upper 60s.

NOTE: The Olympic swim course starts to the left of the swim exit and does a clockwise triangle loop that merges into the same finish as the Half Iron Distance swim. The two courses are separate and there will be no confusion for the athletes.

BIKE – 24.8 Miles (40 K)
Scenic and rolling hills with beautiful ocean and bay views. 1100 total feet of elevation gain.

NOTE: The Olympic bike course is exactly the same as one lap of the Half Iron Distance course with the exception of skipping two out and backs on the return of the loop. These will be marked and staffed.
RUN – 6.2 Miles (10 K)
A challenging hilly course
403 total feet of elevation gain.

NOTE: The Olympic run course is exactly the same as one lap of the Half Distance course with omitting one small section that will be well marked and staffed during the race making it simple for the atheletes to do the correct course.
